Question: What if I’m not sure I’m brushing my best? Will you show me how to improve this aspect of my preventive care the next time I see you? I’m embarrassed to ask in person.
Answer: Of course! We will be happy to discuss your usual habits, answer any questions you may have, and provide you with a live demo regarding the best way to approach brushing your smile.
Question: What type of toothbrush should I use when I’m brushing my teeth at home? Does the brush type impact the effectiveness of my preventive care at all?
Answer: Yes, it is very important you make a good decision when you choose a toothbrush. While many of the details (such as color) are completely up to you, we always recommend you reach for a brush with soft bristles. They will clean plaque and food debris without damaging your enamel. Also, make sure the brush moves comfortably throughout your mouth – if it is too big, you will not be able to access every tooth surface.
Question: Should I brush my gums? Should I brush my tongue?
Answer: For best results with preventive care at home, brush every single tooth surface, brush along your gumline by gently angling the brush toward your gums and then brushing away from them, and gently brush your tongue.
